Catching Up

I've managed to do it again. It's been more than a month since I've posted here. I'm putting it down to a combination of being really busy, having to fight over our home computer with my parents, and not being able to blog at work. That means that when I get home in the evening, having spent all day staring at a computer screen, I'd rather be knitting or sewing than doing more typing. My laptop (which made blogging at uni easy as I could blog from bed!) has barely been used since I moved home two years ago, because we don't have a wireless connection at home. While I hope to be moving out of home sometime in the next few months (hmmm), I am asking Dad if he can install wireless in our house, as I miss the convenience of using the internet anywhere in my house, and particularly blogging.
Anyway, that was all boring, onto the crafting! I've been really tired these last couple of months. All the cake baking for Sam's wedding exhausted me! I'm also pretty snowed under at work, working late most days, and in the coming month I'll be working weekends as well, as we have a HUGE deadline to meet. I have managed to get some crafting done, just not as much as I'd liked.
Firstly, Lincoln's quilt is...finished! I am SO proud of this. By no means perfect, I'm really pleased with the fabric choices, and for a first attempt I'm pretty pleased with my sewing. I've probably made mistakes on this but I won't make the same mistakes on the next one. The number of photos shows how much I like this!
I finished the first of a pair of socks for Dad using some Koigu I bought him from Purl SoHo on my trip to New York last year. I love this colour. I love the semi-solids, more than variegated colours. Although just to be contrary I'm knitting myself socks using Shi Bui yarn in 'Earth' colourway, which is very unusual. That's for the next post!
I made Pumpkin a pair of Fetching wrist warmers for her birthday at the beginning of May, and managed to delete the photo I took before uplaoding it. She's going to take one and send it to me to blog. I used Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in 'Blackberry' and made Isabella a new bigger beret using the leftover yarn.
I've a few projects on the needles now. I've abandoned the Tuscany Shawl for a while, and am knitting my Earth socks, Dad's second orange sock, a cardigan for Lincoln, and I need to knit another pair of Fetching for a colleague's leaving present in a couple of weeks. Mostly at the moment I'm trying to plough through what feels like acres of cabling, knitting a scarf for my friend Paul's 30th birthday. It needs to be finished by Saturday 14th in time for his party. That could be difficult!
Oh, and this is the tank top I knitted for Lincoln that I gace to Babs when I saw her, Em and Lucy for lunch on Sunday. There is nothing nicer than cradling an 8 week old sleepy baby in your arms. :o)
