That's all changed wince I started my new job, three months ago. Life is a lot more colourful these days, which is reflected rather nicely in this little pile of pieces, waiting to be sewn into a cardigan, bootees and hat. Along with the socks on top, and a pair of trousers to be sewn from the Amy Butler polka dot fabric, this pile of pieces is destined for the baby of a colleague at work. Alison sits at the next desk to me, she'll be going on maternity leave in mid-December so these should definitely be finished in time!

Did someone shout COLOUR?!
You may remember, and you will certainly know, if you spent time with me over the last few years, that I had a bit of a love affair with grey. I'm not sure how it happened that everything, not just my clothes and yarn, started to look a little grey, but, well, it did. I think it might have something to do with working for a minimalist architect and commuting into a largely depressing area of London, working hours that ensured I had very little life outside work.

Despite the lack of knitting content, I have been knitting. Nothing is sewn up yet though, I have a large pile of pieces waiting to be made into garments, so there'll be no knitting in this post.
This weekend I was supposed to be visiting Miles in Coventry, but was stuck at home with a horrible migraine. I felt much better yesterday and decided to bake a cake. It's Nigella's Victoria Spnge from 'How to be a Domestic Goddess, and is quite simply, delicious!

Two Tone Shrug
As promised here are the photos of me modelling my newly knitted shrug. The pattern is the Two Tone Shrug, in 'Fitted Knits' by Stefanie Japel.
It's a lovely book, with a wide range of sizes and several garments that I'm looking forward to knitting. This pattern is well written, although the sizing took a bit of guesswork, as the size knitted is based on a shoulder to shoulder measurement.
I tried it on before I started the ribbing around the body, and it was very large across my back, but as you can see, the ribbing has pulled the whole thing in, and it now fits perfectly.
I especially love the high neck on this garment. The pattern specifies Cascade 220 superwash, but I used the regular Cascade 220. I used much less than the pattern stated, less than four balls in the end.
I'll definitely be knitting more from this book. This was my first top-down raglan style knit and I really enjoyed it. It was very quick too, taking less than three weeks. Although several birthday presents have been sent late to friends because I wanted to get this finished!
