Grandma Ann, nee AuntiAnn

AuntiAnn's daughter had a baby boy yesterday, no name as yet, but a big CONGRATULATIONS to Ann's daughter and all the family on the birth of your baby boy.

Grandma Ann, enjoy your first grandchild :o) And keep knitting! x

I'm currently in London after having a major stress out at uni last week. Will be back at uni tomorrow when I will blog photos of Saturday's expedition, which involved a trip to the Handweavers' Studio and Loop, with Emilie and Leila. Lots of pics to show you :o)

Two things finished...two started

So, the dissertation is finished and handed in! *phew* Over 10400 words, or 49 pages, of BArch dissertation, complete. Obviously, I wasn't entirely happy with it, but even if I had another 10 years to work on it I probably wouldn't be!

Anyway, onto the more important issue of knitting. After yesterday's big D deadline, and the fact that the biggest chunks of hail I've ever seen were crashing into my bedroom window for most of the night, keeping me awake, today has been a day of rest. Well, not entirely, but I have done a little knitting.

Last night I finished this:

Lucy, Emilie and Leila are coming to visit me from London next week. Obviously, I don't want Leila getting a cold head, so a little hat knitting was in order. Of course, I don't want her getting cold tootsies either, so when I'd finished the hat, I knitted this:

Second sock still to knit. I've got a week to knit it, so no problem there, and they're so teeny I shouldn't get second sock syndrome. Here they are together, because a girl can never be too well co-ordinated!

While I was visiting Great Auntie Doris this afternoon for tea and cake, I cast on this hat for Millie in Kendal:

And while I sat knitting on the sofa, Auntie Doris* hemmed her net curtains:

Obviously no one has mentioned "chuck out the chintz" to Auntie Doris!

*Sorry for the dodgy pics of Auntie D, they were taken on a mobile phone.

It's arrived!

Remember Aloise's cardigan? I had an email from Clare yesterday to say that she received it, and loves it. Isn't it fantastic when someone appreciates something you've made for them? She said this: "It is BEAUTIFUL!!! I think my mum wants a matching one!"

As if that wasn't lovely enough, she then said this: "I don't know anyone who has had a girl to pass it on to when ALoise is too fat to wear it anymore so my friend said i can always mount it on to a frame which i thought was a really cool idea and i can either put it in the hallway with the family photos or in her bedroom by her bed".

I think that's the nicest thing anyone has said about my knitting! Ah, what a sweetie ClareyP. She's going to send photos of the wee one wearing her cardy soon, so I'll blog those asap.

I don't have any new knitting photos, but I do have this photo of the finished Loopy and Luscious on Alison's supersized knitting needles and a rather retro chair!

And this is the sock progress (not that I've made any for a few weeks, but it's more recent than the last photo):

Sorry Pumpkin

Sorry for the irregular posts Pumpkin, things have been getting a bit stressful chez Flossie. Nevermind, I'm here now.

I had the fantastic news that Lucy, Emilie and baby Leila are coming to visit for a couple of day at the beginning of March. I cast on a cardy for Leila, 6-9 month size, then realised that she's almost 8 months old now and by the time I finish the cardy she'll more than likely be 9 months (at least, with the speed I'm knitting lately) and won't get much wear from it. So, I think the cardy will be going to Millie in Kendal. Obviously, I couldn't let Leila visit me for the first time in Newcastle and not give her a little knitted something, so I cast on a stripey hat, from Debbie Bliss' Baby Cashmerino 2. Now then, something strange was happening with the lighting in my flat this morning. The hat is not beige and brown, but, in true Flossie fashion, lilac and purple :o) In fact I like the colours so much that I might make a big version for myself.

Here are the first few rows:

And this, just for Pumpkin, is my Valentine's Day hair. Not that I did anything special on Valentine's Day, but I felt like having pretty hair and wearing red lipstick. So I did.

Out of hibernation...

I'd like to have been in hibernation, but I've been researching and writing my dissertation and working on the design for the Centre for Constructed Textile Crafts.

Yeterday, I studied in the library from 8am-5pm, then did a shift in Debenhams until 10pm. It took me until almost midnight to get back home. I slept like a baby, until I was woken by a knock on the door this morning. I waited for Nick to answer the door. He didn't. I *ran* downstairs and opened the door to the postman who gave me this parcel...for me!Inside the parcel was this:
And inside the box were these:
An early Valentine present from my Mum! Ah, my parents send me the *best* presents! One year, my Mum sent me perfume, chocolates, a bouquet of flowers and a pair of pants (not sexy ones!) Who needs a boyfriend with a Mum who sends presents like these?!!

Thanks Mum! xxx

Now for the knitting update. Hmm, there really hasn't been much time for knitting recently. However... I have finished Loopy and Luscious! I don't have a photo, but I'll post one as soon as I've taken it. The frilly tank is coming along nicely. It doesn't have a frill yet, and it isn't staying as a tank. I've decided to knit sleeves with a frill around the bottom of those as well. I have two and a half balls of yarn, so I'm going to start the sleeves at the shoulder and knit them as long as I can with the yarn I have. I have a photo of the tank on me, but I'm not posting it as without the frill it is ever so slightly pornographic and I don't want a repeat performance of corset-gate.
Anyway, this is what it currently looks like, along with the kidsilk haze which I will be using for the frills.

And I've knitted about 5 rounds of the sock since it was last posted. Hmm, that's progress, lol.
