Two things finished...two started

So, the dissertation is finished and handed in! *phew* Over 10400 words, or 49 pages, of BArch dissertation, complete. Obviously, I wasn't entirely happy with it, but even if I had another 10 years to work on it I probably wouldn't be!

Anyway, onto the more important issue of knitting. After yesterday's big D deadline, and the fact that the biggest chunks of hail I've ever seen were crashing into my bedroom window for most of the night, keeping me awake, today has been a day of rest. Well, not entirely, but I have done a little knitting.

Last night I finished this:

Lucy, Emilie and Leila are coming to visit me from London next week. Obviously, I don't want Leila getting a cold head, so a little hat knitting was in order. Of course, I don't want her getting cold tootsies either, so when I'd finished the hat, I knitted this:

Second sock still to knit. I've got a week to knit it, so no problem there, and they're so teeny I shouldn't get second sock syndrome. Here they are together, because a girl can never be too well co-ordinated!

While I was visiting Great Auntie Doris this afternoon for tea and cake, I cast on this hat for Millie in Kendal:

And while I sat knitting on the sofa, Auntie Doris* hemmed her net curtains:

Obviously no one has mentioned "chuck out the chintz" to Auntie Doris!

*Sorry for the dodgy pics of Auntie D, they were taken on a mobile phone.

That hat is so adorable! she is going to look so sweet in her matching socks too. Random question, but: How many stitches did you cast on for the sock?
Congratulations on finishing the dissertation! It's a liberating feeling to hand it in isn't it?

er, the sock was just done on two needles, not dpns, and it's got some cute shaping because of the shape of babies' chubby ankles, lol.

Shall I lend you the pattern? It's in the Debbie Bliss book, Baby Cashmerino 2.

oooh that would be fantastic! Is the hat in there too?

Yes, the hat is in there too.

There are some goegeous patterns. I've knitted the hat and sock (and will have enough for the second sock) from just one ball of each colour.

The hat is so cute but the sock ...
how gorgeous is that?! Were the socks difficult to make? Could I manage to make a pair?!

What have you done to Auntie Doris?
I think Part 11 has taken it's toll on her too!!

Humph.

I had the pattern book you asked for.

I had the Colinette sample pack for you to fondle.

I had a surprise in store.

I had texted and emailed you.

I had a purse full of cash to buy you a drink.

You weren't at the Forth.

Anne was.

Sorry you are tired, but poo.

We missed you.

Alice, Well done with the dissertation. I bet thats a huge weight off your mind? More time to knit now too ;o)
The hat and sock are ace. That hat was the first thing I knitted after the obligotory scarf and J still wears it with pride.
The pattern for the trousers I made is from Little Turtle Knits. want a copy? Its actually for putting over cloth nappies instead of PUL wraps but I think they look nice even if you made it for an un-cloth bum. They might need less increases in the bum though so they don't fall down.

Shame on me! I was the first person to see this post and didn't reply, but you knew my state of mind as we were messaging at the time.

So, to make up for it:
Congratulations on finishing the diss. I'm your biggest cheerleader - literally!

The knitting is fab and gorgeous, as always.

Auntie Doris is adorable. I hope I get to meet her.

Thanx for kicking my arse. I'm sure it will need refreshing.
